Vector Control
The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) is 1 of over 100 agencies statewide specifically dedicated to protecting public health by controlling rats, flies, mosquitoes, fire ants and other vector related problems. The OCMVCD provides service to all of Orange County or 798 square miles. The OCMVCD conducts regular surveillance for vectors and vector-borne diseases that can make the public ill or be a nuisance to the public. While the District conducts regular surveillance and control measures, homeowners can also protect themselves from vectors.
Mosquito Prevention Resources
Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District provides a range of resources to help residents take active roles in mosquito control. These resources are designed to help individuals prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases:
- Together We Fight! OCMVCD’s mosquito landing page offers a range of information on how to keep mosquitoes at bay. You can learn how to identify mosquito breeding sources, eliminate stagnant water, and use insecticides safely and effectively. By using these tips, you can take charge of your yard and prevent mosquitoes from breeding and spreading disease.
- Become a Neighborhood Advocate. Go here to help your neighbors take a more active role in mosquito control. Advocate kits include information on mosquito biology, breeding habits, and prevention measures. They also include tools such as larvicide tablets, mosquito dunks, and educational materials to help you and your neighbors take action against mosquitoes in your community.
- Request Educational Resources. Schools and community organizations can find resources including presentations, handouts, and other materials designed to educate individuals and groups about mosquito-borne diseases and prevention measures.
- Report an Issue. Need help dealing with mosquitoes around your home? You can submit a service request to have a mosquito inspector from OC Vector come out to help.
OCMVCD is dedicated to providing resources that empower individuals and communities to take action against mosquitoes and prevent the spread of diseases. OCMVCD can help you take an active role in mosquito control and ensure a safe and healthy environment for yourself and those around you.
