Public Works maintains 7,500 City trees and 13 wetlands, with the goal of protecting the public and surrounding environment while managing long-term stability, health, and sustainability of the Aliso Creek Watershed. For every one tree removed, the City plants three new trees.
Trees are trimmed to enhance public safety, promote tree health, and improve aesthetics and visibility. Seasonal tree trimming occurs from mid-September through March to avoid conflict with bird nesting season.
